Databook's Topics feature allows you to create your own Topics to carry out specific searches in investor documents, news, social media, press releases and events relating to your accounts.

When you search with a Topic, Databook will look for any of the keywords in a Topic in documents relating to that company. (More information here)

To build a Topic:

  1. Navigate to Topics
  2. Click the +New Topic button
  3. Enter a name for the Topic you are creating
  4. Add Keywords for your TopicĀ
  5. Click Save
  6. To search with your Topic, we recommend navigating to Opportunities and clicking the Topics tab.

Tips for building and searching with Topics:

  • Use specific keywords to make your search more precise. E.g. 'IBM Cloud' rather than just 'Cloud' or 'Paid Ads' rather than 'Advertising'
  • Connect your Salesforce before searching with Topics. This allows you to quickly run searches for the companies that are your accounts.

Examples of Topics you may want to build:

  • Competitor sets (if you add your competitors as keywords you can run searches to see if they are active in your accounts)

Here's an example:

  • Solutions / offerings. You can create Topics based around a solution area and then run searches on your accounts to see which companies are referencing this area most often in their documents (which could be a signal of management interest in your offerings).

Here's an example:

  • Technology-specific. You can create Topics based around a specific technology linked to your solutions. This can help you identify companies who may be interested in your solutions.
